Can to Will

There are several different definitions for the word CAN.  To be able to, accomplish, have knowledge, used to indicate possibility are all listed in the Webster dictionary.  All of them define God’s abilities BUT to me, personally, it also gives a little leeway to failure which is NOT God.  God doesn’t fail. We as humans fail but God does not.

So I have decided to replace can with WILL!  Webster dictionary defines will as used to explain a future happening, a choice, a willingness, and a command (my favorite).  Yes, God can do all things for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). But the best part is that He WILL do all things for those who love Him.  He WILL strengthen you when you need to be strengthened. He WILL love those who love Him. Best of all He WILL and He has saved us from ourselves.

God is everything and He is all powerful.  So “can” is a given when it comes to Him. Of course He “can”.  Instead of saying “God can do such and such” start saying “God WILL do such and such” and feel how powerful and how reassuring that will be for you.  He WILL be your everything if you let Him.

Lord, Help us to remember that not only can you hold on to us and help us but you WILL be here for us.  Thank you for the little things in our lives. Thank you for your amazing love and Thank you for everything you have and you will continue to do for us.  We love you and we praise you. AMEN

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 NIV

‘I can do all this through him who gives me strength. ‘
Philippians 4:13

Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”
2 Samuel 10:12 NIV

Commit your way to the Lord ; trust in him and he will do this:
Psalm 37:5 NIV

Signs

October 3, 2018

Signs.  They are everywhere!  There are signs telling you to eat this or buy that.  There are signs telling you to hire this person or call this number.  Signs telling us to stop, slow down, one way. All of them telling us to do or not do something.

How about the signs that are from God?  Do you listen to them? Do you even realize they are Him speaking to you?  I for one have missed LOTS of signs and had to learn the hard way on things because of missing them or ignoring them.  We listen to the guidance of the physical signs in our lives why don’t we listen to the ones that God give to us?

They aren’t physically seen, that’s why.  Even if they are we question if they are really from God.  We could hear Him talking to us and not even realize that it is Him.  I still to this day struggle on if I know it is God or if it is just my subconscious making it’s own decision trying to mask it as God.

One thing that I am learning is to just start following the tug of what is right and aligns with what the word would say not the world.  Start listening to the little things that just seem so random and you have no clue where they could have come from. That stop sign that seems to be louder than the others could be telling you to stop whatever harmful behavior you are doing.  The Only sign showing you one direction is telling you to follow God’s path only. The Wrong way or U Turn sign could be saying turn around and try again.

Most of all though in order to hear these signs and start to understand them we need to be still and just listen.  Stop talking, stop requesting, stop praying. Just listen. You will eventually start hearing and recognizing His voice and His signs.  Just take that leap of faith and you will land where He wants you.

“Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take. Return, Virgin Israel, return to your towns.” Jeremiah 31:21

How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation  Daniel 4:3

I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.  Acts 2:19

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.  Hebrews 2:4

Lord, thank you for the opportunity to learn and grow with you.  Thank you for allowing us to see and hear your signs and your voice.  May we begin to hear you more and more through everything in our lives.  Amen
