Freedom vs Slavery

We were once slaves but now we are free.  This is what it means to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior.  We once were slaves to sex, money, power, alcohol, and drugs.  We were once thieves, gluttons, cheaters and abusers.  Now we are clean!!  We are free of those things.  We are forgiven for it all.  So we must turn away from those sins and know that we are

“made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God.”  1 Cor 6:11

The sin we lived made us slaves.  We were bound by chains.  When Jesus died He broke those chains for all who believed in Him and loved Him.  So although we have free will and can do anything we want to, do we really want to go back to being slaves?

Lord,  please forgive us for our sins.  Forgive us for all that we have done against you.  We have accepted your cleansing now please help us to follow your path of freedom so that we do not become a slave to anything again.  Give us your strength to stand against our past and accept that we are no longer that person.  Let us feel you grace and your love so that we know we are on the right path to your loving arms.  We praise you and we will serve only you for all our days.  AMEN

‘Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. ‘ 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 NLT
